Welcome to the Nerd Reeview, with your host, Rob.
For a long time, Twitter was my best and easiest way to reach folks to talk about tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, as well as the nerd culture, tech, and politics stories that interest me. With Twitter changing, it felt right to start a newsletter-slash-blog.
I’ll bring you updates on this world—and other ones.
I love games because they’re an escape from the tribulations and tedium of our everyday lives. At the same time, I read an awful lot of news to keep informed. So each week, I’ll give you a summary of whatever fiction and nonfiction caught my eye.
Who am I, anyway?
In the past I’ve written about the Big-Techification of tabletop RPGs, ad tracking and my mom’s toothpaste, the true identities of the founders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, the labor issues around AI-generated images.
I also write and edit D&D adventures.
My ideal reader: curious and kind, with an open mind.
When my Twitter following exploded overnight, I learned a lot of lessons very quickly about what it’s like having eyes on you at all times online. I realized that anger is fuel on social media, but you burn through it fast. I’d rather give you a break from that.
(That’s not to say I don’t get feisty from time to time.)
What can you expect?
Let’s start with a weekly newsletter. It’s free, but if you want to toss me a buck or two, I won’t say no.
And be sure to let me know your thoughts; it keeps me motivated!
Came here after your toothpaste story, shared on Quora, then found you on Twitter. Love the way arriving here autocompleted my email address :) especially after reading about tracking.
But your info looks interesting, so this is one of the rare Reeviews I’ll sign up for. Looking forward to reading your posts. Thanks, Janet
